FAQs
What is the AHIMA Medical Coding and Reimbursement Micro-credential?
AHIMA offers Medical Coding and Reimbursement online courses. This is a self-paced, 13-course program that provides comprehensive training in inpatient and outpatient coding, along with the necessary background courses in health record content, medical terminology, and disease processes.
The courses are entirely web-based. After successfully completing the Medical Coding and Reimbursement online courses you will earn the AHIMA Medical Coding and Reimbursement Micro-credential and receive a certificate of completion from AHIMA. If you choose to continue your journey, you can apply academic transfer credits toward a certificate or undergraduate degree program through our alliance with Purdue University Global.
The Medical Coding and Reimbursement online courses will also help you receive qualifying education to become an AHIMA-certified professional. Several courses are highly recommended for medical coding certification exam preparation, including AHIMA’s CCA and CCS certification exams. The CCA should be viewed as the starting point for an individual entering a new career as a coder.

How do I request a transcript for courses completed prior to 1/1/2015?
Beginning December 2020, the American Council on Education’s (ACE) transcript services for Learning Evaluations (formerly CREDIT®) are offered through a Working Transcript. These enhanced credentials require issuance; see below for details. Former transcripts offered through Credential Solutions/Parchment may still be considered valid.
Working Transcript Requests
Effective December 1, 2020, transcript services for ACE's Learning Evaluations migrated to Credly's Acclaim platform in an effort to provide enhanced credentials to learners and allow additional flexibility for providers.
If you completed and passed a course that carries Learning Evaluations recommendations, and your provider has already migrated to the new system, you will be sent an email invitation to claim your free badge. After claiming the badge, you may create an account on Acclaim and use that account to order free academic transcripts without further approvals. Visit Acclaim's Transcript help page for questions that may arise regarding Working Transcripts.
If you completed an ACE-endorsed course and have not received an email invitation to claim your badge, contact the ACE Resource Center at credit@acenet.edu for assistance or visit the ACE website for more information.
How do I request a transcript for an Independent Study Program (ISP)?
To request an Independent Study Program (ISP) transcript, please email online.education@ahima.org and include your full name and AHIMA ID number used at the time of the program.
How long do I have access to an online product that I purchased?

Returned online education products are subject to a $25 cancellation fee. Customers who have cancelled their purchase will be un-enrolled from the product and will not have access to any of the content or related user data. Cancelled courses will not appear on the learner’s education history. CEUs will not be awarded or retained for cancelled products.
